The Occitan Nation Party calls

for participation in the demonstrations of October 10, 2020

Language is one of the main elements of a nation's identity. It is even the determining element in our ethnist viewpoint.

Faced with the incessant attacks of the French colonial state to make the essence of the Occitan nation disappear, and in the absence of a more radical fight, the Occitan Nation Party  unreservedly supports the actions of the Pour que vivent nos langues / Per que viscan nòstras lengas umbrella group.

The Occitan Nation Party has always supported and will continue to support the actions carried out by trade unions, professional associations or parents' associations fighting for the teaching of the Occitan language.

Against the latest reform of comprehensive schools in the French National Education system which drastically reduces the already very insufficient teaching of the Occitan language obtained after decades of struggle, the Occitan Nation Party asks its members and supporters to take part in the demonstrations that are being organised on October 10, 2020 all over Occitania.

Today, probably more than ever and despite the difficulties involved in this struggle, it is useful to remind the authorities that we will not let ourselves be crushed without resisting.

The Occitan Nation Party invites all Occitan men and women to unite in the fight for the defence of our threatened identity. In doing so, it reminds them that the struggle for language is not just a cultural struggle but a political struggle and that without an independent Occitan political power, the French state will continue its linguistic policy of eradicating Occitan and other languages of France, except French.

For the liberation of Occitania a political commitment is needed, consequently, for the language and for the nation let’s all be mobilized, without illusion but with determination, on October 10, 2020 !
