Pandemic and Islamist terrorism

The President of the French Republic has decided to lock down again the population following the uncontrollable worsening of the sanitary situation caused by the covid 19 virus.

The Occitan Nation Party  calls for the respect of these temporary restrictions to our fundamental liberties.

Now is not the time for petty political criticism of the government's management of the crisis, but for abiding by its instructions in the interest of all, all age groups included.

In addition to the pandemic, another scourge threatens our way of life and our society: Islamist terrorism.

On Friday 16 October, Samuel Paty, a history and geography teacher in a secondary school in the Paris area, was savagely murdered by a Chechen Islamist who had just obtained refugee status.

Islamists abhor schools and their civic education classes on freedom of speech in which teachers dare to show pupils of all origins the Muhammad cartoons published by Charlie Hebdo, the satirical weekly which paid blood money for it in January 2015.

This Thursday 29 October in Nice, Provence in Occitania, the Catholic community was the target of a new terrorist attack committed by a Tunisian whose death toll is three.

The Occitan Nation Party addresses its most sincere condolences to the families of the victims.

For Islamist terrorists, whether we are Christians, atheists or agnostics, we are miscreants who must be eliminated.

Faced with what must be called a war against the West and its values, the Occitan Nation Party approves the measures taken by the government (closure of Salafist mosques and additional means given to the police to prevent  further attacks).

But the ball is also in the court of French Muslims because these terrorists are not above ground, they claim Islam as their religion.

This religion is compatible with the French republic as long as it respects secularism established by the 1905 French law on the separation of the Churches and the state, a principle to which the Occitan Nation Party is attached and which, according to polls, a quarter of Muslims who place Sharia above the laws of the republic, does not respect.

The so-called Islamophobia that is said to exist in the French republic, stigmatising Muslims and justifying cultural and territorial separatism, is used by the Islamists and their extreme left wing intellectual accomplices to prevent any criticism of Islam.

The Occitan Nation Party, which gives its members complete freedom in philosophical and religious matters, hopes for the advent of a Muslim Enlightenment which will pass through a merciless fight against Islamist terrorism with the help of French citizens of Muslim culture or religion and their community institutions.
