The Partit de la Nacion Occitana is paying close attention to the explosive situation in French Guiana. It recalls that the French republic is a colonial empire. French Guiana is a colony as its West-Indian neighbours Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint Martin, Mayotte, the so-called French Polynesia, Wallis and Futuna and New Caledonia.
In the same way in Europe, Corsica, Alsace and German-speaking Moselle, Flemish Westhoek, Brittany, the northern Basque country, northern Catalonia and Occitania are colonies. All these colonies whose dependence from the French State is maintained are expected, sooner or later, when the peoples concerned so decide, to become independent whether they live overseas or in the metropolitan areas.
