The Occitan Nation Party demands the liberation of'Ebru Firat
It is now two months since the young Kurdish-Occitan woman Ebru Firat, born in Moissac (lower Quercy), was jailed in Turkey. On the 8th November 2016, she has just been sentenced, in an iniquitous manner to a five-year prison term by Turkish justice. She was charged with « membership of a terrorist organization» even though this activist who supports human rights and democracy dropped out of her studies in Toulouse to go and fight ISIS barbarians. This young Moissac woman of Kurdish stock fought in Kobané (Western Kurdistan) in Kurdish self-defence units YPG (Yekîneyên Parastina Gel/People’s Protection Units) that is considered as a terrorist organization by Erdogan’s Islamist government.
While returning to Occitania, the young Ebru Firat was arrested on 8th September 2016 at Atatürk airport in Istanbul. Since then, the authoritarian Turkish Sate has detained her. The Occitan Nation Party denounces a biased judicial system in the service of Turkish imperialism. It specifically demands the immediate and unconditional release of the Occitan Kurdish resistance fighter. The Occitan Nation Party seizes the opportunity to recall that it favours the creation of a Kurdish State on all of this nation’s territories. It had already been planned when the treaty of Sèvres was signed on 10th August 1920.
