Parliamentary elections in Scotland and Wales.
The Occitan Nation Party congratulates the Scottish National Party that has just won the parliamentary elections in Scotland. For the third time in a row, it will form a government even if the latter will be a minority government this time.
It will be incumbent on this new government to decide whether or not to organise a new referendum on independence, especialy if contrary to the wishes of a majority of Scots according to polls, the noes win in the 23rd June 2016 vote in the UK on Britain’s continuing EU membership.
The Occitan Nation Party is in favour of Scottish independence.
The Occitan Nation Party also congratulates Plaid Cymru (Welsh Nationalist Party) for winning an additional seat in the Welsh Assembly and for ranking second among parties.
Nevertheless, the breakthrough achieved by UKIP is worrying.
Even if support for independence is much weaker there than in Scotland, the Occitan Nation Party, just like Plaid Cymru, is in favour of independence for Wales.
The Occitan Nation Party is for the independence of all the stateless nations of the world.
This holds true for Europe’s nations where support for independence is strong today like Catalonia, Flemish Flanders and the Basque country, and for nations like Brittany and Occitania where such an outcome seems more distant.
