The Partit de la Nacion Occitana and the results of the second round of the regional elections in Occitania
In the wake of the second round of the regional elections of 13th December in Occitania, the Partit de la Nacion Occitana is delighted that the far-right « Front National » led by Marion Maréchal-Le Pen did not manage to seize control of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region but notices that in this region just like in Aquitaine-Limousin-Poitou Charente, Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi Pyrénées and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the « Front National » improved its results of the first round and its activists now become members of all the new regional councils. The best way to prevent the « Front National » from gaining further ground and coming to power at the top of the French State is for the political class to offer credible answers to the concerns of Occitan people and all the citizens of the French republic : identity, immigration, radical islamism, security and unemployment. It is however our special responsibility as Occitan independentists to convince our compatriots , in Provence and elsewhere in Occitania, that the overkill in French jingoism and the unviable economic programme of the « Front National » are not likely to solve their problems.
For the Occitan movement, the Partit de la Nacion Occitana did not participate in the second round. The Partit Occitan, is weakened after the elections in the three Occitan regions where its activists were candidates in the first round. A single regional councillor was elected in the second round in Languedoc-Roussillon-Midi-Pyrénées out of 5 outgoing councillors. This party has not yet abandoned the fanciful idea that the only way is to seek an alliance with the French left. Now, the current political situation calls for the gathering of Occitan political and cultural forces from all sides to prepare right now the next territorial elections , independently, united and in alliance with non-Jacobin forces, independent from political parties.
Lastly,in Corsica, the Partit de la Nacion Occitana is delighted with the resounding victory of the nationalist coalition Pè a Corsica led by Gilles Simeoni, mayor of Bastia, which enables it to seize control of the Corsican assembly. They show the way to Occitan political activists. In Martinique, it is also delighted with the victory of « Grand Sanblé pou Ba Peyi-a An Chans », an independentist list led by Alfred Marie-Jeanne.
The Partit de la Nacion Occitana believes that the emancipation of stateless nations will be the result of the will of their peoples and of a power struggle.
